For this second year of the Nickmas Simulcast Game, the question was, how do we top what we did the previous year.
The technical difficulties of the game being held at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, MO ended up working in our favor. Arrowhead Stadium didn't have space for a separate commentators' desk/studio for the Nickmas Broadcast commentators- So we made our own. Thus the idea of the large Nickelodeon super booth was developed, and I got to take lead as the designer as this piece. A place where the the Blimp could dock, slime could spew out and we could make sure almost every angle had some Nickelodeon-esque Christmas whimsy.
There was also the question of what else we could do with the Yeti. We tried some other outfits for the Yeti- the clients liked the idea, but we couldn't quite find any moments where the outfits would work.
And then we tried creating a friend for him. There was a thought that we would introduce Transformers as a usable IP to 2023's broadcast. So we played around with the idea of creating a transforming robot friend out of the Blimp to hang out with the Yeti and Fly him around. But we ended up not being able to use Transformers at all this broadcast, and CBS/Nickelodeon were a bit too concerned that the robot would be too close to Fox's Cleatus Robot character.
But there are some supporting elements from the Robot/Transformer Blimp that did stick around- some wind up toys and a Slime Jetpack for Santa. We also had created a snow powered Sleigh for Santa- but the jetpack ended up being used in its place
